So as i sat down yesterday to begin actual work, i decided to take a look at my old Battle Chasers comic and was reminded of some of my artistic roots.
I mean we all went through that stage where you constantly bite someone, well, i went through it like CRAZY with ol Joe Mad, and i still love his stuff today, even though it would seem that hating on it is the cool thing to do these days.
I never had drawn the characters from BC, just i have never drawn the DragonBall characters, so i decided to do it as a warm up, and took it to a different level with some Prismacolor 30% Grey Marker and a Whiteout pen. Then i just scanned it in and played with some textures and usuall stuff.
Either way, this is for Joe, thanks for the inspiration man, PEACE y'all.
Oh, and this has nothing to do with my last journal post, so dont go thinking, lol. PEACE!
I love this! Joe has always been a fave of mine. This piece brought me to your gallery; which was an even bigger inspiration. I SHOULD be sleeping, but I still want to create after looking at your stuff.

This is awesome, man! Joe is one of the greatest. For me personally, he's the most exciting penciller in comics hands down to this day, though I guess he is not really totally "in comics" anymore unfortunately. I don't understand the haters eighter. One thing I have observed is a leaning towards more stiff realistic styles in today's mainstream comics so a stylized guy like Joe might catch some flack for that reason. The thing I saw you mention about folks saying his poses all being the same and not liking his shadows, man I don't know where stuff like that comes from, I never see Joe ripping himself off and his shadows are sick!
Anyway, I'm a Joe Mad fanatic till the day I die so I am not a great source for unbiased opinions of his work. Keep up your own slick stuff, it's awesome!
People bag on joeM are insane! Props bro, this is a nice piece, You should give some of the other characters a go... You seen joe's work on "the Ultimates"? this is his best work by far...

Chris.... i'm speechless.... ok...maybe not... DAYUMMMMM, KIDD! what are ya drinking over there? this is some really tight stuff, man. i love the rough feel of the character. it is all you, and keeps him in context too. job well done.
